When people think of pyramids they mostly immediately think of the great pyramids of Giza and the Ancient Egyptians but they were not the first or the only civilization to build pyramids. The purpose of this website is to attempt to give an insight into the mysterious pyramid and the civilizations who built them. 

As you will see from the various pages above pyramids were important to many people in different cultures. Why would so many build their sacred structures independently in the pyramid shape? The theory I believe is that most civilizations link high places with the divine so perhaps there is no better way to link with the divine and receive answers than to build a 'staircase to heaven' - a pyramid.
